Head
Coach
Richard Finkelstein is a 1974 graduate of
Queens College where he played Water Polo for four years and was captain
in his senior year. He began his coaching career in 1976 at Holy Cross
High School. In 1980, Coach Finkelstein started coaching twelve and
unders at Eastern Queens YMCA in Bellerose and came to Flushing in September
of 1986. After spending one year as an assistant coach he became head
coach in 1987.
Coach Finkelstein has had 2 Senior National qualifiers, 14 Junior National
qualifiers, 32 YMCA All-Americans and 7 YMCA National Champions in his
tenure at Flushing. He is an ASCA level 4 USS and YMCA certified coach
and has served as age group and swimathon chairman of Metropolitan Swimming.
"My philosophy is to have everyone become the best that they can be
while having fun, working hard and being part of a team." Coach Finkelstein
lives in East Meadow with his wife, Rhoda and two daughters, Sara and
Alexa.

Casey Quilter
Casey comes from a seasoned background of competitive swimming and
coaching
experience. He has been competing since age 5. He started swimming
summer
league in Virginia and eventually rose through the Junior Olympic,
Zone,
Junior National, Senior National and collegiate ranks. Casey was a
team
captain for the #3-ranked University of Tennessee Volunteers from
1994-1999
where he was a 4-time collegiate All-American and qualified for the US
Olympic Trials. At that time he was world-ranked in the 100
backstroke. He
continues to workout and compete at the Masters swimming level.
Throughout
Casey’s swimming career he has also taught lessons, worked clinics, and
coached. He has led a half-dozen successful summer league programs and
most
recently coached the age-group swimmers at Pilot Aquatic Club in
Knoxville,
Tennessee. Casey recently moved to Long Island, New York, to pursue
his
second Master’s degree at St. John’s University. He plans to teach 5th
grade Earth Sciences. Casey brings a lot of competitive swimming
experience
to our team and a strong focus on fundamentals, competitive excellence,
and
personal development.

Tim
Hogan
Swam for Flushing from 1992-99. Graduated from Seton Hall University with
a degree in Psychology in May 2003. In his spare time, Tim loves traveling,
both domestic and international. Tim is awaiting a position with the FDNY
in the (hopeful) near future.
